The country also witnessed 29,885 recoveries and 347 fatalities on the same day. According to John Hopkins University data, the total number of cases in India as of Dec.19 stood at 10,004,599.

According to PTI, the Indian Council of Medical Research tested a cumulative 16,00,90,514 Coronavirus samples up to Dec. 19, out of which 11,71,868 samples were tested on Dec.18.

As the country crossed the 10 million mark, India stood at number two, amongst the world’s most affected countries. The United States continued to be the worst affected country, with 17,446,266 cases, and Brazil stood at the third position with a total of 7,162,978 cases, according to John Hopkins data.
