A viral image claims to be of cows wearing masks in Uttar Pradesh amid the coronavirus pandemic.

A 2017 image of Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath with cows has been photoshopped and falsely shared as being from 2020.

An image of CM Yogi Adityanath with cows wearing masks was shared on Facebook in March 2020, with a caption praising him.

A reverse image search of the viral image led us to the original unedited image published by Hindustan Times on 21 March 2017 in which the cows are not wearing masks. The caption of the photo is about Mr Adityanath feeding those cows in Gorakpur.

The viral image has been photoshopped to make it seem like the cows had been wearing masks.
