House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is not eligible for a stimulus check as she is an individual earning over $100,000.
The draft outlines a plan to completely phase out the $1,400 stimulus checks for individuals earning over $100,000 and for couples filing jointly above $200,000. These are the same income thresholds Congress used for stimulus checks sent in 2020.
The income eligibility was a sticking point. Some moderates asked for lower cutoffs of $50,000 for individuals and $100,000 for joint filers. In the end, individuals making less than $75,000 and couples making less than $150,000 would receive the entire amount of $1,400.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi's compensation amounts to $223,500, which places her beyond the scope of the stimulus's eligibility. Hence, the claim that Pelosi would benefit from the COVID-19 relief package is false.
