Amid the recent rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra, a post started circulating claiming that people in Mumbai will be fined Rs 1000 if they are caught without a mask. However, Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh took to Twitter to clarify that the fine for not wearing is a mask is Rs 200 in Mumbai. "Dear Mumbaikars! #FakeNews mongers are back again! This time claiming that No Mask can cost you a fine of 1000 rupees. While no money can compensate for safety being compromised, you can only be charged Rupees 200 for not wearing a mask," posted Singh on Twitter.
