The Election Commission has served a notice to West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee over her speech on April 3, 2021.

During an election rally at Tarakeshwar in Hooghly, CM Mamata Banerjee asked the Muslim voters not to allow a split in their votes among different political parties.

The Election commission issued her a notice for her alleged appeal to minority voters after a delegation of BJP party leaders complained against her. The notice said that the poll panel found her statement to violate the Election Commission's Model Code of Conduct and asked her to reply within 48 hours.

On April 9, 2021, the EC has served another notice to Mamata Banerjee for accusing the on-duty CRPF personnel in West Bengal. Upon receiving the EC's notice for the second time in as many weeks, Mamata Banerjee has said that she will continue to speak up against the CRPF as long as they were serving the BJP's cause in the state.
