After placing a ban on commercial India news channels, Nepal partially lifted the ban imposed on a few news channels. On July 13, 2020, Nepal's cable television operators partially lifted the ban imposed on a few Indian private news channels. Television operators' Association Vice president Dhurba Sharma said that after a meeting between cable operators, they decided to lift the ban on few Indian news channels. On July 9, cable television operators stopped the transmission of all Indian private news channels except Doordarshan and accused them of airing reports, which hurt Nepal's national sentiment.
