The Gujarat police have seized narcotics worth around ₹22000 crores in the past two months.Gujarat police have been working round the clock to catch drug peddlers. They have recently seized drugs worth crores and booked cases. According to the Minister of state, 5,756-kg drugs have been held in the past two months worth 245 crores. This is apart from the seizure of 3,000 kilograms of heroin worth around Rs 21,000 crore from Mundra port in Kutch.
Police say that smugglers opt for the Indian route because it works out cheaper, is a short distance, and is easy to hide. Most of the consignment is shipped from Pakistan or Afghanistan. The Gujarat coast is used as a major transit point due to its proximity to the international boundary.
