Project Veritas was founded by James O'Keefe who has a criminal record. The outfit has conducted numerous sting operations that were questionable.
O’Keefe had gained popularity for secretly recording workers from the community activist group ACORN (The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now). He and his colleague recorded using hidden cameras and asked for advice on how to run an illegal business that included the use of underage girls in the sex trade. His video resulted in Congress removing some funding for ACORN, which has been the scourge of conservative activists who say the group participated in voter fraud for several years.
Project Veritas, the rightwing organization run by James O’Keefe, that concentrates on sting operations against liberal groups and the established media, was fully exposed for many fake sting operations. One of which is by, The Washington Post, where a woman approached a story about Roy Moore. It revealed that O’Keefe had tried to put on the plot to dupe its reporters into publishing an entirely false tales. Politico reported, “Project Veritas was given a dose of its own medicine last fall when, after an ill-conceived and dreadfully executed attempt to sting the Washington Post went south, the newspaper flipped the script on O’Keefe and released its own tape of reporters unmasking his undercover operative.”
