Chief Minister Nitish Kumar posted the announcement on his social media account, noting that the decision was made after the discussion with associate ministers and officials. He further instructed the crisis management group to take further necessary actions on the guidelines. The decision came in after Patna high court issued an ultimatum to the government on imposing a lockdown. The HC even warned that the court would step in if the government failed to do so.
