The media reports that he has decided to quit from the board and has already sent a mail to Smriti Kiran, the film festival's artistic director. Further added that Deepika Padukone, Chairperson for the MAMI board, even tried to convince him to rethink the decision. Currently, he is keeping away from social media. They claim that he is upset that his colleagues and friends of the film industry have not supported him in his tough time of nepotism debate wherein he was poorly trolled. However, neither the board nor his team has confirmed his resignation as of July, 2,2020.
