Hyderabad Police busted a racket that made fake Aadhaar cards for Bangladeshi immigrants.

Eight people were arrested in Hyderabad for issuing fake Aadhaar cards. The police did not say if they were made for Bangladeshi immigrants.According to a Facebook post by Hyderabad City Police, on December 24, 2021, Golconda Police detained an eight-member gang for defrauding the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) by conducting Aadhaar operations at unapproved locations for personal gain. Based on the complaint given by the UIDAI, police registered two cases against the accused at Banjara Hills and Golconda police stations. The apprehended suspects and seized goods were turned over to the Station House Officer (SHO) of Golconda Police Station in Hyderabad for further investigation. Each accused were found with an Aadhar Kit, which included a laptop, iris scanner, fingerprint scanner, and camera. There are no reports or proof of whether those Aadhar cards were made for illegal immigrants from Bangladeshi.

On December 24, 2021, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar announced in a press conference that Golconda Police had apprehended an eight-member gang for defrauding the UIDAI by conducting Aadhaar operations in unauthorized locations for personal gain proofs of Assam. Telangana Today reported that the central government ordered that identity proofs issued to states be used only within the state. Kumar said the accused exploited the Aadhar card system to acquire fake Assam IDs.
