An order issued by the Government of Karnataka confirms that coronavirus lockdown has been partially relaxed in Karnataka from on 23 April 2020.As per the order, the state government has decided to relax the lockdown and announced new guidelines to be followed from 23 April 2020 but the lockdown would continue strictly in containment zones. Private vehicles would be allowed to move freely to procure essential commodities and for medical emergency services, health service, agricultural services and commercial services in safe zones.

A tweet by CM of Karnataka about coronavirus lockdown relaxation on 22 April 2020 states that the government has issued a directive on the relaxing lockdown in Karnataka, this relaxation is only applicable to safe zones and quarantine zones. The metro service, auto-rickshaw, cab, national and international flight service, bus service, train service, religious functions, cinema halls, malls, school and colleges will be restricted from this relaxation.
