The BBC World Service during its news broadcast reported the British army's imminent plans to attack Goose Green during the Falklands war in 1962.The British Broadcasting Corporation(BBC) revealed almost all of the British intelligence activities including an intended attack on Goose Green during the Falklands war. It announced that the second Battalion of the Parachute Regiment was poised and ready to assault Darwin and Goose Green. The unit commander Lieutenant-Colonel Herbert Jones had allegedly vowed to sue BBC for the broadcast as his unit was heavily outnumbered and possibly lost the element of surprise. The Argentines, however, assumed that the reports by the BBC of the 2nd Para's surprise attack were a diversion and paid the price when the paras eventually took them by surprise.
