The WHO has shown its support towards international efforts to reinstate economies amid the COVID-19 pandemic and warned against doing it prematurely. On August 31, 2020, the WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus remarked that the World Health Organisation completely supported the efforts to reopen the economies and societies worldwide as many people are tired of the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions and want to return to everyday life. He added that the WHO wanted to see children returning to school and people to workplaces by following their respective countries' guidelines.

It has collected COVID-19 data regularly and surveyed to make decisions leading to the safe reopening of societies worldwide. In light of not having a successful vaccine against the disease available, it also warned the countries not to reopen societies without caution and proper instructions to the public, as it could lead to disastrous outcomes otherwise.

The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation. For reliable advice on COVID-19 including symptoms, prevention and available treatment, please refer to the World Health Organisation or your national healthcare authority.
