Kerala government has increased the base price of liquor.

Due to the increase in liquor production costs, the Kerala government has raised prices for various liquor brands from Feb. 2, 2021.

Due to the increase in liquor production costs, the Kerala government has raised prices for various liquor brands from Feb. 2, 2021.Except for beer and wine, the Kerala government increased all liquors' prices after the Beverages Corporation raised the purchase value by 7 percent. Meanwhile, glass bottles are compulsory for the sale of full alcohol, and this rule was introduced to avoid plastic bottles. Begining from Feb. 2, 2021, 750 ml, 1.5 liters, and 2.5-liter liquor would be available in glass bottles. Kerala State Beverages (M&M) Corporation Limited's price list mentions the cost of some liquors. 'Jawan' rum is sold at ₹450 in Kerala, which earlier had a cost of ₹420. VSOP brandy's price has been increased from ₹900 to ₹960.

If the liquor price goes up by ₹40, the state government will get ₹35, the Beverages Corporation gets ₹1, and the liquor company gets ₹4. There is an expectation that the government would bring additional revenue of ₹1,000 crores per annum.

Kerala has been shutting the liquor outlets on the first day of every month. Bar owners have suggested stopping such Dry Day practice in the state. They have recommended keeping liquor outlets open on the first day of every month.
