The National Crime Records Bureau, which functions under the Union home ministry, is yet to release the crime statistics for 2017-18, already delayed by five months.

A report by the Times of India, along with records of previous reports published by the National Crime Records Bureau, confirm this claim. The Times of India reports that the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) has failed to publish 'Crime In India' report for 2017-2018 — the first time they’ve failed to publish an annual report since 1953. The NCRB’s website shows that the most recent crime statistics report pertained to 2016, and was released on November 30 2017, by the Hon'ble Union Home Minister.
