The Business Insider stated that several stores in China had run out of masks and the news video uploaded on the Channel News Asia on 24 January 2020, reported that several pharmacies in Singapore ran out of face masks after confirmation of Wuhan virus.

On 24 January 2020, the Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MOH) issued a clarification over the news about surgical masks shortages at the retail outlets and had assured the public that there are enough stock of masks in the warehouses and government stockpiles. It also assured the people that the health ministry is working with the retailers to shift available stocks to the retail shops and make it available progressively.
