It is not verifiable whether Goswami knew exactly about the Balakot strike beforehand as the leaked WhatsApp chats are under police investigation.
The alleged transcript of WhatsApp chat between Arnab Goswami and Dasgupta, former CEO of Broadcast Audience Research Council, revealed that he had prior information about some sensitive events, including the Balakot airstrike, three days before it happened. Goswami said that "something significant" would be done this time, hinting that he was aware of the Air Force's action plans. On Feb. 23, 2019, he said that the central government planned to carry out a "bigger than normal strike." His message to Dasgupta reads, "exact words used," suggesting that someone in the government had told him that the strike would be more significant than usual. In response to the Feb. 14, 2019, terrorist attack in Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir, on Feb. 26, 2019, the Indian Air Force (IAF) struck the terror training camp Jaish-e-Mohammad in Balakot town of Pakistan. However, the Mumbai police are investigating the sensitive information mentioned in the leaked WhatsApp chats, and its veracity is unverifiable currently.
