Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that Canada will begin using a contact tracing app to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 from July 2020.On 18 June 2020, during his daily briefing, Justin Trudeau said that from July onwards, Canadians can download an app that will send alerts if they have come in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. He further said that it will be up to individual Canadians to decide whether to download the app or not. Further, the government intends to make the free app available for download in early July and said that the program will be compatible with 30 million smartphones in Canada.
