The statement by the MEA spokesperson Anurag Srivastava confirms that China had hindered India’s normal patrolling patterns on Line of Actual Control.Amid tensions between India and China along the disputed Line of Actual Control(LAC), there are reports that some Indian troops were detained and later released by the Chinese Army after a skirmish broke out between the two sides in Ladakh. Indian armed forces have accused the Chinese army of blocking patrols and unnecessarily erecting tents and deploying forces at Sikkim and Ladakh inside Indian territory on the LAC between the two countries.

On 21 May 2020, the Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson said that Indian troops had not undertaken any activity across the border and it was China that had hindered India’s normal patrolling patterns. Also, Indian troops are fully familiar with the alignment of the Line of Actual Control in the India-China border areas and abide by it scrupulously. Therefore, there is a continuation of the stand-off between both country troops at Ladakh, which is yet to be resolved despite multiple rounds of talks by local commanders and military hotlines.
