Dr. Ronny Jackson won the primary runoff for the Republican nomination seat for Texas 13th Congressional District.On July 14, 2020, Dr. Ronny L. Jackson, the former White House physician with no political experience won a Republican runoff election for a House seat in Texas. Dr. Jackson emerged victorious in the 13th Congressional District against Josh Winegarner, a lobbyist who had the backing of the cattle industry. President Donald Trump had backed Jackson who is a Texas native and has served as White House physician during the Obama administration as well. Dr. Jackson, a retired Navy rear admiral, left the West Wing in December 2019 after President Trump chose him to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs but he had to withdraw his name mid allegations related to his professional conduct.
