Hillary Clinton had won more popular votes against Trump, but she still lost the election. The 2016 US presidential race saw various ups and downs. It was contested by Donald J. Trump of the Republican Party and Hillary Clinton of the Democratic Party. The election produced a mismatch between the national popular vote and the Electoral College. Clinton got 2,864,974 votes more than Trump, the largest popular vote margin of any losing presidential candidate in U.S. history. She eventually lost the election as Donald Trump won the Electoral College with 304 votes than 227 votes for Hillary Clinton. Most of the pollsters and statisticians had given Hillary Clinton the edge, but it was wrong as Trump was chosen to become the president. However, the bigger picture predicted by various polls was mostly correct.
