The IAAS survey revealed in Sept 2020 before the presidential election that 72% of Indian American voters planned to vote for Joe Biden. The Indian American Attitudes Survey (IAAS) conducted in September 2020, before the presidential elections, in partnership with the research and analytics firm YouGov revealed that most registered Indian-American voters supported Joe Biden while only 22% of them planned to vote for the incumbent President Trump. The analysis was based on a nationally representative online survey of 936 Indian American citizens.

The data showed that Indian Americans continue to be strongly attached to the Democratic Party, with little indication of a shift toward the Republican Party. The US- India relationship was not found to be a governing factor in their voting inclinations and nationally salient issues such as healthcare and the economy weighed in more on the political behavior of Indian Americans in the United States.

The study also said there was little evidence of a significant change in the party allegiance since 2016, as the vast majority of Indian Americans had voted for Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton in 2016 also.

Biden has defeated Trump in the presidential election and is expected to assume office in January 2021. There is no data yet on the number of Indian Americans who actually voted for Biden in the election.
