In response, some press groups such as The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press(RCFP), Society of Professional Journalist(SPJ) and Committee to Protect Journalists(CPJ) publicly issued statements condemning the arrest of CNN correspondent and his crew. SPJ has issued a general open letter to protesters and police urging them to allow journalists to do their jobs in covering the protests.
