A viral image claims to be of food packages kept in the open for anyone to take for free during the COVID-19 lockdown in Rwanda.

A reverse image search reveals that this image is from May 2019 of a charity by Sheik Imam in Gambia and not from Rwanda during the 2020 lockdown.

A reverse image search reveals that this image is from May 2019 of a charity by Sheik Imam in Gambia and not from Rwanda during the 2020 lockdown.An image surfaced on the internet in which the food packages can be seen kept in an open field. It is being claimed that the picture is from Rwanda during the 2020 lockdown due to the coronavirus.

A reverse image search showed that this image was first uploaded on Facebook on 17 May 2019, which was almost a year before the lockdown was imposed in Rwanda.

The same picture was featured in the blog 'Positive Health Online' published in June 2019. According to the blog post, Sheik Imam engaged in charity and made these contributions in The Gambia during the month of Ramadan. The blog says that he kept food and other essential commodities in the open for the needy people in the villages, schools and orphanages.
