The Indian army and Chinese army are engaged in dialogue at various levels to bring peace along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), which has seen frequent clashes between the frontier forces on both sides in recent weeks. The two sides have scuffled along the disputed border in recent weeks, but the recent clashes lead to the first fatalities in at least 45 years. 20 Indian soldiers had died in the scuffle as well as an unspecified number of Chinese soldiers.
Following the incident, India's Foreign Minister S Jaishankar had a telephonic conversation with the Chinese counterpart. During the conversation, they agreed to handle the situation responsibly, and both sides would implement the withdrawal of troops. Ever since both sides have been reinforcing their borders with more military personnel and heavy equipment. No shots have been fired by both sides and the situation is under control amid heightened tensions.
