The sexual abuse survivors of the Boy Scouts of America can file a lawsuit against the scouting organization under the Child Victims Act.The United States' Child Victims Act says that a person who sexually abuses a child under 18, can be punished in different ways. The Act has a provision which states that regardless of one's age or which state they live in if they are abused, including while scouting, one can claim compensation or justice. According to reports, Boy Scouts, who were molested or sexually abused, have until November 16, 2020, to file a claim.
The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) is one of the largest youth organizations in the United States, with 2.3 million youth members and approximately 889,000 adult volunteers. The Boy Scouts of America is accused of hiding thousands of child sexual abuse cases from the public for nearly a century.
