Twitter was flooded with posts asking Nicola Sturgeon to resign and for a vote of no confidence in the government.

Twitter was flooded with posts asking Nicola Sturgeon to resign and for a vote of no confidence in the government. The 2020 exams across the United Kingdom were canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, leading the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) to run a system based on teacher assessments.

The new grading system had led to thousands of pupils complaining that they had received lower grades than estimated. There was a widespread uproar after higher pass rates for pupils in the most deprived data zones was reduced by 15.2%, compared with 6.9% for pupils from the most affluent backgrounds.

Scotland First minister Nicola Sturgeon apologized for the fault in the system and expressed her faith in Education Secretary John Swinney, and the government's plan to fix the issue. However, opposition parties were also pushing for a vote of no confidence in the education secretary, and #ResignSturgeon was also trending on twitter.
