Haryana Additional DGP Navdeep Virk has confirmed that 68 FIRs have been registered for spreading fake news about COVID-19 via social media platforms.The Additional DGP's tweet posted on 8 April 2020 said that 68 FIRs had been registered and 41 arrests were made in Haryana for spreading rumours, false information, and hate-remarks regarding COVID-19 on WhatsApp and other social media platforms.

Haryana Directorate of Information, Public Relations & Languages (DIPR) had earlier tweeted on 4 April 2020 that the state police had registered 38 FIRs against 36 accused persons for spreading fake news on social media platforms.
