Maharashtra government announced night curfew on Dec. 22, 2020, which will end on Jan. 05, 2021. There was no day curfew on Dec. 31 and on Jan. 01.The commissioner of police in Maharashtra issued an order on Dec. 22, 2020, imposing a night curfew in Maharastra under section 144 of the criminal producer code 1973 between 11 pm till 6 am starting from Dec. 22 to Jan. 5, 2021. The government advised citizens to celebrate the new year at home, keeping in mind the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Also, the passengers arriving from other countries will be checked and stamped on their hands and mandatorily undergo 15 days of institutional quarantine.

There was no curfew during the day on Dec. 31. However, people were advised to celebrate the end of the year and the new year's arrival by staying home. The advisory urged people not to assemble in large numbers at public spaces, including the seashore, parks, and roads, on Dec. 31 and on Jan. 01 especially.

Hence, there was an imposition of night curfew in Maharastra on Dec. 31 and on Jan. 01 from 11 pm till 6 am.
