The Indian government has blocked 118 Chinese apps including PUBG citing that these apps were prejudicial to the sovereignty and integrity of India.The government of India notified the ban on some mobile apps by invoking its power under section 69A of the Information Technology Act. It said that it will block 118 mobile apps as an emergency measure to protect the interest of the state and its citizens. Earlier, the government had banned 59 popular Chinese apps over security issues. The gaming app PUBG, owned by the China-based Tencent Corporation, which has millions of players in India is among those banned. The release said that the government had received many complaints from various sources about the misuse of some mobile apps for stealing and surreptitiously transmitting users’ data in an unauthorized manner to servers, which have locations outside India.
