Athletes arriving in Japan to participate in the Tokyo Olympics will not undergo a 14-days quarantine period.On Sep. 04, 2020, the Tokyo 2020 Chief Executive Officer Toshiro Muto, in a press briefing, stated that the participants (Athletes, coaches, and Games officials) arriving in Japan for the 2020 Olympics would be exempted from 2 weeks of quarantine. Muto was speaking at the press conference after the meeting with officials of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and national government and the organizers of Tokyo 2020 organizers. The athletes, coaches, and other officials should take the COVID-19 test 72 hours before arriving in and after arriving in Japan. All of them would be able to enter the country after completing the safety measures.

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics was postponed in 2020 due to COVID-19 and now will be held from Jul. 23 to Aug. 08, 2021, considering the situation of COVID-19.
