Shiv Sena has urged the cable operators in the state to stop airing the Republic TV channel.The 'Shiv Cable Sena' an affiliate of the major partner of the ruling coalition Shiv Sena urged in a written letter to cable operators across Maharashtra to stop the broadcast of Republic TV channels. The letter which mentioned Sanjay Raut as its mentor accused the Republic's Arnab Goswami of violating the rules of the Indian Constitution as well as the ethics of journalism and running a parallel court in his newsroom. It threatened the cable operators would face the consequences if the channels were aired and said that the TV anchor had disrespected the CM of the state.
However, the Bombay High court in its order said that 'Shiv Cable Sena's order to restrain on the channel does not affect law as it was not a statutory authority.
