Veteran BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has joined the Congress party.

Recently he courted controversy when he had a spat with Karnataka CM Bommai for his alleged comments. Now an image is circulating with the claim that Dr. Swamy has officially joined the Opposition. However, the claim is false.

Using reverse image search, we found the original image on the Getty Images website. The image is credited to Hindustan Times' photographer Arvind Yadav. The caption read that the image is from a press conference held by Opposition parties at Parliament House Annexe on December 10, 2018, in New Delhi. The same image was carried by Hindustan Times.

None of the reports mention Subramanian Swami participated in the conference. Further, if we zoom in and see the image, we find that the man in the brown jacket is different and has no resemblance to Dr. Swamy. Hence we mark the claim as false.
