Strong tremors were felt from Mexico to Florida and beyond. Tremors of lesser intensities were felt in parts of Jamaica, Cuba, the Cayman Islands, Greece, Alaska, Japan, Albania, the Nicobar Islands in India and off the coast of Chile. Tsunami warnings were issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center for coasts located within 300 km (186 miles) of the earthquake's epicenter. The warnings were withdrawn later saying the threat had passed.
