Ranvir Shorey started a poll to see who would people choose: NaMo or RaGa on Twitter. Rahul Gandhi emerged as the winner by garnering 58.8% votes. On February 16, Ranvir Shorey, a Bollywood actor, songwriter, and humourist, created a Twitter poll asking, "And if the only available choices are to be RaGa or NaMo, who would you choose." NaMo is short for Narendra Modi, and RaGa is short for Rahul Gandhi. Following this, Shorey posted multiple tweets on the poll. One tweet even said that he felt it "somewhat like the Election Commission" when the votes reached 200,000. Another tweet said that he doesn't get to vote.

345,207 voters took part in the poll, out of which RaGa received 58.8 percent and NaMo received 41.2 percent votes. Several Indian National Congress leaders tweeted regarding Shorey's poll and criticized BJP's (Bharatiya Janata Party) social media management.

On February 17, Vijendra Jaswal, a congress member, shared a doctored group chat photo, accusing Shorey of asking people to share the poll and vote for NaMo. It was reported to the Mumbai police by Shorey. The tweet was removed after the complaint reached Mumbai cyber team.

Indeed, the Twitter poll represented that Gandhi won against Modi, but it is not an accurate representation of the country's feelings towards the two, and the poll holds no relevance. Moreover, the authenticity of the poll conducted by Shorey cannot be verified.
