The Karnataka government is reconsidering its decision to reopen schools from Jan. 2021.

The Karnataka government has said that the schools will reopen as decided from Jan.1, 2021.

The Karnataka government has said that the schools will reopen as decided from Jan.1, 2021. The schools in Karnataka have been shut since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Karnataka Education Minister had announced that schools would reopen starting from Jan 01 for Class 10 and Class 12 students. It would also resume for students of Classes 6 to 9 from January 1.

The State's COVID-19 Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) met on Dec. 22 to discuss the emerging situation in the wake of the new virus variant detected in the UK. It is recommended that the state government wait and watch the situation for the next four weeks and then take a call. Further, TAC sources said that the situation is dynamic and that it was too early to roll back the government’s decision on schools reopening.

The Chief Minister said that they would review the situation for the next couple of days but did not hint at the rollback of reopening the schools. The Education Minister, too, confirmed that they would go ahead with the plans as decided earlier, and there was no need for anyone to panic.
