Alex Jones openly opposed the idea of wearing a mask to fight the virus. Face coverings can significantly help reduce the risk of transmission. The issue of wearing face coverings in public has become a contentious topic, with some advocating that masks are useless, if not dangerous. However, the scientific community has been vociferous on wearing a mask, especially in public. The CDC has recommended wearing masks as a simple barrier and preventing people from spreading the virus to others.

Infowar host Alex Jones led an anti-mask rally with nearly 150 un-masked like-minded protesters in Texas. Jones arrived in an armored vehicle and led the protestors against the state and local governments' mask mandate. He said wearing a mask is a sign of slavery. He couldn't breathe with a mask on and is willing to fight for his right to ignore the scientific community's advice. In another instance, he can be heard telling a group of teenagers that Covid-19 is a hoax and was filmed yelling at park employees in Austin, Texas, for wearing masks.

The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation. For reliable advice on COVID-19 including symptoms, prevention and available treatment, please refer to the World Health Organisation or your national healthcare authority.
