Over 50% of people in West Bengal want Mamata as their Chief Minister, according to ABP poll.

The opinion poll conducted by APB News along with CVoter found that 54.5 percent people in West Bengal want Mamata Banerjee to return. In the last week of February, after the Election Commission of India announced the dates of polls in 5 upcoming state assembly elections, ABP News conducted the Opinion poll of the 5 poll bound states along with CVoter. The opinion poll asked people about the factors which would dominate while they vote for the next government and analysed the data for each state to assess the mood of the people.

They found that 54.5 percent people in West Bengal want Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to return again. The Bharatiya Janata Party has not decided on its Chief Ministerial candidate yet but 24.6 percent people in West Bengal voted for Dilip Ghosh as a suitable CM candidate. The second contender from BJP suitable for the CM post is Mukul Roy as 8.5 percent people would want to see him rule the state. Congress leader Adhir Ranajan Chowdhury was chosen by 2.2 percent people while Sujon Chakroborty from CPI(M) was suggested by 3.2 percent.

However it is important to bear in mind that Opinion polls are not very reliable and they are rarely accurate. Errors in poll predictions arise due to several reasons including, faulty methodology, lack of a robust poll infrastructure, and as the number of parties increase, it becomes increasingly difficult to predict the outcome.
