Raja from the DMK party allegedly engaged in the 2G Spectrum scam and caused losses worth ₹1,76,000 crore. In 2011, India's auditing agency, the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) submitted a report on the 2G Spectrum scandal indicting Andimuthu Raja, the Telecommunication Ministry's former head. The minister allegedly caused a loss of 1,76,379 crore.
