Delhi Chief Minister Aravind Kejriwal said that lockdown will end soon in India.

A study conducted by the Mumbai-based International Institute for Population Sciences had said that the 2 stages of lockdown have succeeded in significantly reducing the burden of infections in India. Meanwhile, if the ongoing third phase has been implemented effectively while positive cases in the country are growing at a fast rate.

The Ministry of Home Affairs' press release, the government of India issued an order to extend the lockdown for a further period of 2 weeks beyond 4 May 2020. Therefore, there is no further clarification by the government on extending the lockdown in the upcoming days. Anyhow after 17 May, the decisions would be taken by the central amid lockdown.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on 12 May 2020 and confirmed that the coronavirus would be around for a while. He also confirmed that new phase 4 of the lockdown measures would be implemented as per the requests made by the respective states with increased relaxations in certain places. But he did not provide any information as to how long the lockdown measures would continue in the country.
