The analysis of the evidence in old newspapers confirms that Trump's father Fred was arrested during a protest that took place in 1927.According to the local news that reported the riot, Fred Trump was arrested on a charge of refusing to disperse, from a parade when ordered to do so at a Klan rally in Jamaica, Queens in 1927. He was arrested along with 7 men but later was discharged. The reports did not specify if he participated in the parade or a member of the Klan.

Alberto Martinez, a historian at the University of Texas, wrote in his research article that based on the evidence he had reviewed Fred might have been just a local guy who went to the Memorial Day parade and got involved in the riot that happened in his neighborhood. Later the police arrested him and released on the same day with no charges.
