Jio issued a warning to its customers against such fake offers.Several YouTube videos and messages circulating on WhatsApp related to the free recharge claim Jio is giving free recharge for its users. Closer analysis of these messages reveals that most of these to be fake and baseless. Jio's official site does not have any such offers listed about free data.

In 2019, Reliance Jio clarified and issued a warning to its customers against several fake SMS's doing the rounds. Reliance Jio said it does not send such messages and added that all Jio offer related information is transparently available on its official website.

Therefore, the claim stating that Jio is offering a free 299 GB of data is false.
