Hope Article 370 will be restored in J&K with China's support: Farooq Abdullah

Farooq Abdullah said, that he hopes he gets some help from the Chinese aggression, and the Article 370 gets restored.

Farooq Abdullah said, that he hopes he gets some help from the Chinese aggression, and the Article 370 gets restored.Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and the Chief of National Conference Farooq Abdullah sparked a massive controversy after the leader in a recent interview with an Aaj Tak reporter said that the hopes that Article 370 is restored in the state with the help of Chinese momentum.

Speaking to the reporter on the ongoing unrest between India and China, Abdullah said that he didn’t invite the Chinese Prime Minister to India, he didn’t show him around, nor did he make him sit on a swing or take him to Gujarat and Chennai, our Prime Minister did so. He further added that ‘But, China didn’t like it.’ “And on Article 370, they (China) said that we could not accept this decision, and till you restore Article 370, we won’t stop.”

He further said that “We pray to god that because of this momentum (zor), we get some help, and our Article 370 gets restored”.

Abdullah’s statement came at a time when India and China have locked horns at the LAC, and 20 Indian soldiers lost their lives in a violent face-off between the two nations on June 15, 2020, in Eastern Ladakh’s Galwan valley. Abdullah’s remarks attracted faced flak from political experts and rival political parties. The ruling BJP termed his statement as ‘sedition.’

However, the NC issued a clarification on Abdullah’s statement and claimed that his statement had been twisted by the BJP. NCP said that Abdullah never justified the expansionist or aggressive intention, as being claimed by BJP. The party said that he was highlighting the anger of the people because of the abrogation of Article 370 last year.

Abdullah was released from house arrest in March, seven months after he was slapped with Public Safety Act following the abrogation of Article 370 in August last year.

This was not the first time Abdullah has spoken in favor of China. In fact, he had earlier said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir would prefer to stay with China than with India.

Hence, the claim that Abdullah said that he hopes that Article 370 is restored in Jammu and Kashmir with the help of China is true.
