There is insufficient evidence to verify that the overall claim. A report published by News Laundry alleged that English Republic TV CEO Arnab Goswami and Zee News editor in chief, Sudhir Choudhary, is bound to pay a fine of 52 crores as they violated the norms and got access to free channels on DD dish. It alleged that Republic TV and some of the channels from the Zee network were available in DD free dish without being involved in the auction of the slots organized by Prasar Bharathi.

DD free dish is India’s Free Direct-To-Home Service launched in 2004 and owned by Prasar Bharati. The DD free dish has a capacity of 104 channels and 40 radio channels that are free for the general public. The channels are usually involved in the auction for purchasing the slots in the dish and pay around 7 to 10 crores to Prasar Bharati to widen their reach to remote areas.

However, there is no report of the case being filed by Prasar Bharati or incriminating evidence to say that there was a scam. Further details on the matter are awaited, including the government's response to enquires made by news laundry.
