The world record for the most lit candles on a cake stands at over 70,000.

A new Guinness World Record was set in the United States for lighting 72,585 candles on a birthday cake.

A new Guinness World Record was set in the United States for lighting 72,585 candles on a birthday cake.The Guinness record for the most lit candles on a cake has achieved by Sri Chinmoy Centre and Ashrita Furman in New York, the United States, on August 26, 2016. 72,585 candles were lit on the Chinmoy's 85th birth anniversary. One hundred people had worked to make the 80.5 feet long and two feet wide rectangular cake and place each candle. The candles were lit with 60 blowtorches and remained lit for about 40 seconds. The previous Guinness record for lighting more candles (50,151 candles) on the cake was for Mike's Hard Lemonade in California in April 2016.
