There is little evidence that Queen Rani Padmavati ever existed.

Malik Mohammad Jayasi's poem of 1540, “Padmavat”, mentions a queen called Rani Padmavati. However, it is not known if this queen was real or not.

Malik Mohammad Jayasi's poem of 1540, “Padmavat”, mentions a queen called Rani Padmavati. However, it is not known if this queen was real or not.In the sixteenth century, Malik Muhammad Jayasi (1477– 1542) composed a poem titled “Padmavat”. The poem focused on a legendary tale about Allaudin Khilji, who Malik Muhammad Jayasi said attacked Chittorgarh in 1303 after hearing about the beauty of a queen called Rani Padmavati.

It is true that, in 1303, Allaudin Khilji did attack Chittorgarh, which was then under the control of Ratan Singh. While historians disagree on the specifics, the attack is thought to have nothing to do with Rani Padmavati or her beauty. Instead, Allaudin Khilji initiated the attack on Chittorgarh to extend his control over India.
