A press release by the Press Information Bureau endorsed by the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry confirms eating poultry products is safe.According to the Press Information Bureau, on 6 March 2020 Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Giriraj Singh said that there is no risk in eating non-veg products until those are cooked thoroughly.

In an exclusive interview with India Today on 17 March 2020, the Director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr Randeep Guleria said Consumption of non-vegetarian food or eggs does not cause the spread of coronavirus all kinds of meat should be thoroughly washed and properly cooked.

The information on the World Organisation for Animal Health website also states that the meat from healthy livestock that is cooked thoroughly is safe to eat.
