As per the latest yearly unemployment statistics published in 2019, Assam has a lower unemployment rate compared to many other Indian states.
As per the PLFS report published by MOSPI, Assam recorded an unemployment rate of 6.7 percent in 2018-2019. It is the latest report available and is the primary source of data on employment and unemployment at the national and state levels in India. The unemployment rate in Assam is well below other states of Nagaland, Delhi, Bihar, and Tripura. Even if we compare the quarterly reports for January-March 2020 and April-June 2020, the state of Assam does not rank higher in terms of unemployment.
Further, data collated by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), a private think tank, shows that Assam's unemployment rate is just 1.1 percent for March. In contrast, unemployment rates in states such as Haryana, Goa, and Rajasthan were 28.1 percent, 22.1 percent, and 19.7 percent respectively. Hence we mark the claim as False.
