
Maulana Hasrat Mohani, a noted poet and a freedom fighter, gave the slogan 'Inquilab Zindabad' during India's freedom struggle in 1921.
The British authorities imprisoned Hasrat Mohani for several years for participating in the independence movement. He worked with several political parties and was also the founding member of the Indian Communist Party.
In 1921, during the annual session of the Congress Party, which he joined in 1903, Hasrat Mohani, along with Swami Kumaran and, called for complete independence in a joint resolution. He coined the phrase "Inquilab Zindabad" in 1921, popularly used by freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh. Hasrat Mohani passed away on May 13, 1951.
